Worst Skateboard Slams

Over the years skateboarding has evolved to larger gaps, longer handrails, paired with more technical tricks. It’s no surprise that the consequences have increased.  We are way beyond the bruised shin, sore elbow, or the skinned knee injuries.  Now skateboarders are dealing with cracked skulls, crushed bones and spit skin (grossed out yet?).  Let’s take a look at some of the worst crashes in the last few years.

Jake Brown X-Games Crash

During the X Games “Big Air” event, Jake Brown was hospitalized after taking a 40 foot drop to flat bottom from a massive 20 foot quarterpipe.  After landing a 720 over the big air gap, he was spun-up heading into the quarterpipe, and lost control.  Amazingly, he escaped the gruesome slam with only a broken wrist and a lung contusion.

Brian Schaefer Loop Slam

Brian went full force into the loop, but didnt pop out right side up.  The poor quality YouTube video will leave you with your jaw dropped.  This nasty loop fail sent him straight to the hospital.

Fabio Slaiman Extreme Rail Sack

This video is the worst of the worst.  Most of us know the feeling of smashing your nuts, bruising your taint, or getting stabbed in the butt with your board, but this one takes the cake.  A leap off the side of a vert ramp to straddling a rail.  I was unable to find info around the after math here, but im sure Fabio was in quite some pain.

Welcome to Hell – Slam Section

If you are ever talking about the worst slams, there has to be mention of the all time best slam section from Toy Machine’s Welcome to Hell video.  The skateboarding in the video was waaaay beyond its time, just like the lovely slam section with the flower intro.  The montage ends with Jamie’s imfamous slow-motion face scrap in Huntington Beach.

Guys and girls, let me know about any extreme skateboard slams that really made you cringe!
